Epidemic slowing, lowest Tuesday increase in cases in 6 months
The Czech Republic registered 3,229 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, the lowest daily increase on a week day in close to six months, according to data released by the Ministry of Health. In the past week the Czech Republic has had 151 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The ministry’s goal is to bring the number down to under 100 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Over 1.6 million people have contracted the virus since the pandemic hit the Czech Republic in March of last year.
Over 29,000 people have died of Covid or related complications since then. The epidemic has gradually been slowing since mid-March.
