Emergency state in Czech energy sector ended at midnight after major blackout

The state of emergency in the Czech energy sector, declared due to a large-scale blackout, ended at midnight from Friday to Saturday. It had been in effect for 12 hours. The national grid operator ČEPS completed repairs on high-voltage line V411 after 10 p.m. on Thursday, identifying a snapped phase conductor as the main mechanical cause of the outage. The blackout, which began around noon, affected parts of Prague, Central, Liberec, Ústí regions, and eastern Bohemia, leaving about one million customers without power. Electricity supplies were fully restored by the evening, including rail services disrupted earlier in the day.
