Economic Daily: Czechia underrepresented in EU institutions, analysis reveals

There are over 50,000 employees working for EU institutions and Czechia ranks among the least represented member states, according to a European Court of Auditors report. Ekonomický deník (Economic Daily) writes that based on population and MEP numbers, Czechia places sixth from the bottom, with Belgium, Malta, and Estonia leading in representation. To address imbalances, the European Parliament introduced targeted recruitment drives in 2024, though these faced legal challenges. Czech initiatives include training courses like Gateway to the EU Institutions and diplomatic support for applicants. However, disparities persist, especially in higher-ranking roles. The report highlights the need for broader geographic representation across EU institutions.
