Drawn-out court battle over Mucha’s Slav Epic concluded amicably

The City of Prague and the descendants of Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha have reached agreement to end a drawn-out court battle over ownership rights to Mucha's famous Slav Epic. Mucha’s grandson has agreed to withdraw his lawsuit against the city for having failed to fulfil the condition under which Mucha bequeathed the masterpiece to the City of Prague – and that is building appropriate exhibition spaces for the priceless canvases. The two sides have now agreed to cooperate in creating a centre where they will be displayed. For the time being, Slav Epic is on display at the château in Moravský Krumlov in south Moravia.
