Digitally restored version of Jiří Menzel’s Larks on Strings to premier in Berlin
Digitally restored version of Jiří Menzel’s 1969 film Larks on Strings is to premier at the Berlinale on Saturday, 32 years after it won the festival’s Golden Bear Award.
The film about victims of communism forced to work in a huge scrapyard was banned by the Communist authorities and was not screened publicly until after the Velvet Revolution.
The Czech New Wave masterpiece has international premiere at the 1990 Berlinale.
