Demonstration against government restrictions held on Wenceslas Square

Some three hundred people gathered on Wenceslas Square on Sunday afternoon to protest against the restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus.

Demonstrators held up slogans criticising, among other things, the approval of the new law on pandemics and the closure of schools.

The event was organised by former TV presenter and activist Jana Peterková, who called for the resignation of the government. Other speakers included members of the Chcipl PES initiative, representing entrepreneurs from the hospitality sector.

According to the police spokesman, many of the participants didn’t wear facemasks despite standing in close proximity.
