Defense Ministry to build new logistics base at Ostrava Mošnov Airport

The Ministry of Defense is planning to build a new logistics base in the vicinity of Ostrava Mošnov Airport, the third biggest airport in the country, Defense Minister Jana Černochová announced on Wednesday. The base will serve exclusively as a logistics center for the army, not for military training. According to the defense minister, the Moravia-Silesia region has agreed to transfer the land for the center free of charge. Construction work is expected to start in 2024. The plan also includes the reconstruction of the airport's runway and should create hundreds of new jobs in the region.
