Czechia stresses commitment to equality and non-discrimination in foreign policy

In response to Amnesty International’s latest human rights report, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of equality and non-discrimination. While democracy is rule by the majority, the ministry emphasized the importance of ensuring equal rights and freedoms for vulnerable and marginalized groups, including women, children, people with disabilities, older individuals, and the LGBTI+ community. The Amnesty report highlighted several issues in Czechia, including unresolved compensation for victims of forced sterilization, arms exports to risk regions, underuse of qualifications of Ukrainian refugees, and insufficient climate protection. The ministry also pointed to Czechia’s active role in UN human rights bodies and praised the adoption of the Pact for the Future as a multilateral achievement. The ministry rejected some of Amnesty’s criticisms while acknowledging progress at home.
