Czechia briefing EC about Motol corruption case and impact on EU financed projects

The Czech Ministry of Health has briefed  the European Commission about the corruption investigation at Motol University Hospital and its possible impact on EU-financed projects. The authorities are now auditing contracts related to these projects. The case concerns, among other things, the Motol Oncology Centre project, which is to receive CZK 3.7 billion from EU funds.

The corruption and fraud case surrounding the country’s largest hospital resulted in the detention of seventeen people in high management posts, including the former hospital head Miloslav Ludvík. The officials implicated have been accused of bribery, subsidy fraud, damage to the EU's financial interests and money laundering. The case is being supervised by the European Public Prosecutor's Office.
