Czech women’s hockey team loses to Team USA in World Championship semifinal
The Czech women’s hockey team fell 1–2 to the favored United States in the semifinal of the home World Championship in České Budějovice. They will now face Finland in Sunday’s bronze medal match, after the Finns were defeated by Canada 1–8. Despite the loss, the Czechs delivered their closest-ever game against the Americans, with Tereza Plosová scoring the opening goal. Goalkeeper Klára Peslarová shone throughout, but the U.S. turned the match around with goals from Laila Edwards and Kelly Pannek. The Czechs aim to secure their third straight World Championship medal.
