Czech wines win top awards at Japan’s Sakura competition
Czech wines have achieved major success at the prestigious Sakura wine competition in Japan, the Czech News Agency reported. The jury, composed exclusively of women, awarded Czech entries four Diamond Trophies, the competition’s highest honour.
With only 27 wines entered, the Czech Republic ranked among the most successful participants relative to the number of submissions.
In competition with 3,715 wines from 37 countries, Czech wines won four Diamond Trophies as well as several awards in special categories.
The judging of the 13th edition of the competition took place in Osaka and Tokyo. The jury consisted of 430 experts from the Japanese wine industry, including sommeliers, winemakers, buyers and journalists.
