Czech who fought with Ukrainian secessionists sentenced to 20 years

A 27-year-old man from Karlovy Vary was handed down a 20-year sentence on Wednesday for having engaged in terrorist attacks and participating in an organised crime group.

A Czech regional court found that in July 2015 Lukáš Nováček travelled to parts pf eastern Ukraine controlled by separatists from the so-called Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic.

Nováček was trained, armed and equipped by separatists and took part in battled against Ukrainian troops defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, the verdict said.
