Czech voters receive ballots as pre-election polling blackout begins

More than eight million voters in Czechia should receive their ballot papers for this weekend’s municipal elections by Tuesday at the latest. Voters in 27 constituencies will also elect senators to one-third of the upper house of Parliament. Nearly 190,000 candidates are standing for around 62,000 seats on municipal councils, while 154 candidates are competing in the Senate elections. A ban on publishing new election polls is now in force and will remain in place until voting ends on Saturday. Voters who do not receive their ballot papers in advance can obtain them at polling stations.
