Czech tennis players have advanced to the second round of the Davis Cup after securing a decisive 3–0 lead over Sweden in Jihlava. The winning point came in the doubles, where debutants Patrik Rikl and Petr Nouza saved a match point and defeated Erik Grevelius and André Göransson 7–6, 6–7, 7–6 in front of a sold-out Horácká Arena. In the second round in September, captain Tomáš Berdych’s team will face the United States at home. Last year, the Americans won 3–2 in Delray Beach, Florida.
