Czech team of only 28 athletes competing in Tokyo Paralympics

The XVI Paralympic Games open this Tuesday in Tokyo, three weeks after the closing of the Olympic Games. Twenty-eight Czech athletes will compete in Japan through September 5, along with some 4,500 other athletes from 163 countries. The Czech team is the smallest in its history.

Five years ago, in Rio de Janeiro, the Czechs won five medals, including one gold by swimmer Arnošt Petráček, who will be the flag bearer at the opening ceremony. Beside him will be athlete Eva Datinská, four-time bronze medalist in the shot put.
