Czech state authoties won’t complete deep pyrotechnic survey in Vrbětice
The Czech government will not complete the deep pyrotechnic survey around the former Vrbětice munitions depot in Zlín, leaving local municipalities to fund and organize it themselves, Czech Radio reported. Local mayors oppose the decision, asserting that the state should be responsible. The explosions in 2014, linked to Russian GRU agents, caused significant damage. While some cleanup has been done, mayors argue that the remaining unexplored areas require state intervention. Interior Minister Vít Rakušan (Mayors and Independents) said the matter will continue to be addressed.
