Czech Senate speaker to meet top Taiwanese officials on visit

The speaker of the Czech Senate, Miloš Vystrčil, will meet with the president and prime minister of Taiwan as well as his Taiwanese counterpart and four ministers during a visit to the country that begins on Sunday, according to his schedule, which was released on Tuesday.

During Mr. Vystrčil’s visit, the president of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen, will pay tribute to the Czech politician’s predecessor as Senate chair, Jaroslav Kubera. Earlier this year China put pressure on Mr. Kubera, to abandon a plan to visit Taiwan; he died of a heart attack soon afterwards.
