Czech Senate to award 14 silver medals on Statehood Day

Prominent figures who have excelled in their fields or contributed to Czechia’s reputation abroad will be honoured in the Senate on Monday. On the occasion of Czech Statehood Day, Senate President Miloš Vystrčil will present 14 silver commemorative medals to personalities from different walks of life.

This year’s recipients include scientists, artists, athletes and other public figures. One of them is French economist and Nobel laureate Philippe Aghion, who received his medal earlier this year for supporting dialogue between science and politics. The tradition of awarding the medals on St Wenceslas Day began in 2012.
