Czech rescuers join operation to find survivors in Beirut
Rescue workers from the Czech Republic’s fire service arrived in Beirut on Wednesday a day after the city was hit by a devastating explosion. The team of three dozen specialists, including dog handlers, began helping to search for survivors in the early hours of Thursday, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeted, adding that alongside Greece and France the Czech Republic was one of the first states to send aid to the Lebanese capital.
At least 135 people were killed in Tuesday’s blast while more than 4,000 others were injured.
