Czechia offers condolences, sends aid to Turkey and Syria
Czechia’s top officials have extended condolences and expressed deep sympathy and support for Turkey and Syria which were hit by a devastating earthquake in the early hours of Monday. Czechia has dispatched a 68-member Urban Search and Rescue Team, including sniffer dogs, a structural engineer and a doctor, to Turkey to help with the rescue effort. Over 4,000 people are reported to have been killed and the death toll is rising by the hour. The NGOs People in Need and Caritas have opened special accounts for public donations.
The Czech Embassy in Ankara said a group of Czechs in one of the provinces hit by the quake was unharmed, but it is still trying to reach two women and a child.
