Czech Republic to send CZK 2.5 million to earthquake stricken Haiti
The Czech Republic will send CZK 2.5 million in humanitarian support to Haiti, which was struck by a powerful earthquake last week, leaving close to 2,000 dead and nearly 10,000 injured. The funds will be sent by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will be spent in cooperation with humanitarian organizations.
The 7.2-magnitude tremor occurred on Saturday. Rescue work has been hampered by heavy rains brought this week by a tropical storm. Around half a million children in Haiti currently have limited or no access to shelter, safe water and food, according to the United Nations.
