Czech Republic exit World Cup after 3–0 defeat to Mexico
The Czech Republic have been eliminated from the FIFA World Cup after losing 3–0 to hosts Mexico in their final Group A match in Mexico City. Mateo Chávez and Julián Quiñones scored early in the second half before substitute Álvaro Fidalgo added a third in stoppage time. The Czechs finished bottom of the group with one point from three matches, having previously lost to South Korea and drawn with South Africa. It was only the country's second World Cup appearance in 20 years and, as in 2006, the team failed to progress beyond the group stage.
