Czech Railways still working to clear Kolín-Prague corridor in wake of accident

The railway corridor between Kolín and Prague, where a freight train derailed on Monday, was partially restored on Wednesday morning. Trains are running on one track for the time being, the opening of other tracks will depend on their condition following an inspection.

A clean-up operation has been underway since Monday night after a freight train crashed and derailed, sending a locomotive and two tankers carrying toxic benzene off the tracks. The accident caused major delays, also affecting express trains to Slovakia, Hungary and Austria. Some domestic connections were covered by a replacement bus service. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
