Czech police prosecution Russian citizen for violating international sanctions
Czech police are prosecuting a Russian citizen for violating international sanctions. According to criminal investigators, the Russian was involved in money transfers to a Russian oligarch who has been on the EU sanctions list since 2015 in connection with Russia's annexation of Crimea.
Jaroslav Ibehej, spokesman for the National Centre against Organised Crime, says the funds were subsequently used on the territory of Czechia. Under the Czech Criminal Code, the violation of international sanctions carries a basic penalty of up to three years in prison or a fine.
