Czech police investigating MEP Turek for alleged speeding offense

Czech police are investigating MEP Filip Turek, honorary president of the Czech Motorists party, after he posted a photo on social networks showing his car’s speedometer at over 200 km/h on a motorway. Although Turek claims he was driving in Germany, online users identified the location as the D5 motorway in the Plzen Region.

A number of Czech MEPs have slammed the incident as utterly irresponsible. MEP Tomáš Zdechovský of the Christian Democrats described Turek's behavior as pointless bragging that would inevitably damage his reputation as an MEP. The maximum speed limit on Czech motorways is 150 km/h.
