Czech PM on emergency summit in Paris: Time for action, not for talks

The emergency EU summit in Paris called by French President Emmanuel Macron will not add weight to Europe’s standing on the global scene, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Monday. The Czech head of government stressed that the way to achieve that was through action, such as investing more into defense, revising the Green Deal, cracking down on illegal migration and cutting excessive red tape.

The Czech government’s national security adviser Tomáš Pojar told the Czech News Agency that the Czech Republic should continue what it has been doing for the past three years to help Ukraine, both in terms of material and military aid and solidarity. According to some media reports, there was disappointment in Prague over Czechia’s absence at the Paris meeting.
