Czech Olympic team head: Two medals from Beijing no flop

The head of the Czech team at the Winter Olympics, Martin Doktor, says he does not regard the country’s tally of two medals in Beijing as a particular flop. Mr. Doktor said the Czechs could have come away with none at all, which is always a possibility.

The chairman of the Czech Olympic Committee, Jiří Kejval, said he appreciated how the country’s athletes had comported themselves in China.

Ester Ledecká earned gold in snowboarding’s parallel giant slalom, while speed skater Martina Sablíková took bronze in the 5000m. It was the country’s worst Winter Olympics tally since Lillehammer in 1994, when the Czech team returned with no medals.
