Czech MPs approve late-night voting on legislation

The governing coalition has again approved allowing the lower house to vote on legislation after 9 p.m., opening the way for overnight proceedings on Wednesday. Eighty MPs backed the proposal out of 124 present. The coalition comprises the ANO Party, Freedom and Democracy Party (SPD) and Motorists. Earlier, MPs passed controversial civil service legislation and around 80 related amendments at an extraordinary session. The afternoon agenda includes bills responding to EU legislation, including a digital economy law intended to make online platforms safer and more transparent and better protect children. MPs are also due to elect two Czech Radio Council members.
