Czech man faces indictment for fighting against Russians in Ukraine

The state prosecutor has indicted a man who joined the fighting against Russians in Ukraine, accusing him of serving in foreign armed forces, Czech Television has reported. The man, named as Lukáš Paškuliak, went to Ukraine to help in the fight against Russian aggressors in 2022, relying on assurances of Prime Minister Petr Fiala, who promised Czech volunteers fighting in Ukraine impunity.

Due to his previous attempt to fight in Iraq with the Kurdistan Workers' Party against the Islamic State, the man is also facing charges of supporting and promoting terrorism. If convicted, he faces up to fifteen years in prison.
