Czech Krpálek triumphs at judo Grand Prix in Lima

Czech judoka Lukáš Krpálek, a two-time Olympic champion, has won the over-100-kg category at the Grand Prix tournament in Lima. It was his first competition since June’s World Championships in Budapest, where he finished seventh. The 34-year-old from Jihlava defeated Brazil’s Rafael Buzacarini in the final after a golden-score overtime, claiming his seventh career Grand Prix title and first since last March in Linz. Adam Kopecký added a bronze in the under-90-kg class after beating Italy’s Cristiano Mincinesi. Fellow Czech judoka David Klamert was eliminated in the first round, while Martin Bezděk finished seventh in the under-100-kg category.
