Czech inflation slows to 2.3 percent in September, statistics office estimates

Year-on-year inflation in Czechia eased to 2.3 percent in September, down from 2.5 percent in August, according to a preliminary estimate released on Monday by the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ). Consumer prices fell by 0.6 percent compared to August. Energy prices, including fuel, were the only category to decline year-on-year, dropping by 3.3 percent. Without energy, inflation would have reached 3.1 percent. Food, alcohol, and tobacco rose by 2.9 percent, while services increased by 4.7 percent. The ČSÚ introduced preliminary inflation estimates this year in response to demand from financial markets and the Czech National Bank.
