Czech household debt rises to CZK 2.53 trillion in September
Czech households owed banks CZK 2.525 trillion in September, up CZK 20 billion month on month, according to preliminary data from the Czech National Bank. Corporate debt rose by CZK 18 billion to CZK 1.477 trillion. Year on year, household borrowing increased by CZK 185 billion and corporate debt by CZK 40 billion. Household debt has been rising continuously since 2016, with housing loans making up over three-quarters of the total. In September, these grew by 0.8 percent to CZK 1.94 trillion. Corporate short-term loans rose most sharply, by CZK 15 billion to CZK 342 billion, the central bank said.
