Czech FM voices understanding for Israel’s strike on Iranian nuclear facilities

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský has voiced understaning  for Israel’s strike on Iranian nuclear facilities. Speaking at the Globsec security conference in Prague, Lipavský said Iran has long violated its commitments to the international community and continues to advance its nuclear program. He noted that Iran not only threatens the destruction of the State of Israel but has twice launched large-scale ballistic and drone attacks against Israeli territory in the past eighteen months.

According to AFP, Israeli airstrikes hit around 200 targets in Iran, killing several high-ranking figures, including General Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces. AFP also reported that six nuclear scientists died in the attack. Tehran responded by launching dozens of drones at Israel.

In connection with the developments, Prague Airport has suspended flights to and from Israel and urged passengers to check its website or contact their airlines. The Czech Foreign Ministry has urged Czech nationals to leave Iran without delay. It has not updated its travel advisory for Israel; several thousand dual nationals remain in the country.
