Czech Army signs contract to modernise its T-72 tanks

The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with state firm VOP CZ to modernise its T-72M4CZ tanks. The cost of modernising the 33 vehicles lies at CZK 1,098 billion. According to the ministry, this will increase the models longevity until 2030.

A total of 27 of the T-72M4CZ’s are battle tanks, three are command tanks and the contract also includes three VT-72M4CZ rescue tanks.

The contract was originally supposed to be signed by the end of 2019, but the process was delayed at least in part due to the fact that the price was originally not disclosed, something that displeased critics.
