Czech Airlines sees 50 % drop in number of passengers

The Czech national air carrier, Czech Airlines, registered a 50-percent decrease in the number of passengers travelling to Prague in the second half of August. Company spokesman Daniel Plovajko said though that the number of passengers only transferring in Prague did not change. He said bookings were cancelled in both the tourist and business classes, adding that foreign media described the situation in the Czech Republic as much more dramatic than it actually was. Czech Airlines expects the negative effect on tourism to last for a longer period.
