COVID-19 epidemic continued to subside on Thursday, which also saw record number of administered jabs

The coronavirus epidemic in the Czech Republic continued to subside on Thursday, with just 672 new infection cases registered country-wide, data from the Ministry of Health shows. This was the lowest number of detected cases on a Thursday since August 2020.

According to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, the number of vaccines distributed on Thursday also hit a record at 95,700.

The fall in cases and the slowdown of the pandemic has also led to lower death rates. In the past week, fewer than 20 people died per day. A significant decrease when compared to the hundreds of deceased in March.

The reproduction number currently lies at 0.73, the lowest it has been over the past month.
