Coronavirus: Saturday sees fourth highest daily increase in Covid-19 cases

Saturday saw 508 new cases of Covid-19, the highest increase for the day and the fourth highest daily increase over the weekend since the pandemic hit the country in March, Ministry of Health data show. The number of people who are currently fighting the disease reached 8,282.

Overall, 27,752 COVID-19 cases have been registered in the country, of which 431 have died and more than 19,000 recovered.

According to the Ministry of Health statistics, most people suffer from a mild form of the disease, however, the number of people who require hospital care has been gradually increasing since mid-August. As of Saturday morning, 197 people are being treated in hospital for the disease.
