ČEZ partners with Framatome to develop new nuclear fuel for Dukovany

Czech energy group ČEZ has joined forces with France’s Framatome and other European operators to develop a new generation of fuel assemblies for VVER-440 reactors used at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant. The move is part of efforts to diversify nuclear fuel supplies and reduce reliance on Russia. Dukovany has long used fuel from TVEL, though it received its first deliveries from Westinghouse last year. ČEZ says active involvement in fuel development will help secure long-term, safe operation and strengthen control over key supply chains.
