Calls for renewed political debate in Czechia after election results

Patrik Eichler, director of the Masaryk Democratic Academy, told Czech Radio that it would be best if the Mayors and Independents (STAN) joined a government with Andrej Babiš’s ANO party, as this could help revive genuine political debate in Czechia. With most votes counted, it appeared that Enough! (Stačilo) would not enter the Chamber of Deputies. Its leader, Kateřina Konečná, nevertheless said the group “is not ending, it will continue.” Representatives of the Freedom and Direct Democracy Party (SPD) expressed disappointment, having hoped for double-digit support, while enthusiasm was evident among the Motorists, whose leader Filip Turek proclaimed “Mission accomplished!” and announced his resignation from the European Parliament.
