Brno’s Mendel University loses right to run some doctoral programmes

The Czech national universities accreditation body has decided to strip Brno’s Mendel University of the ability to offer some doctoral studies.

The head of the Council of the National Accreditation Authority, Robert Plaga, said the university would no longer be allowed to run doctoral study programmes in economics and management in Czech or English.

Mr. Plaga said the school’s internal control system had been able to deal with some errors.

The university has been the focus of media attention as it was previously headed by Danuše Nerudová, who failed to reach the second round of presidential elections.
