Billions to be spent on adaptation measures to fight drought

The Ministry of the Environment has allocated over 10 billion crowns for adaptation measures against drought in the coming years, Environment Minister Anna Hubáčková told journalists on Tuesday. The adaptation measures, which are being undertaken together with the Ministry of Agriculture, involve the creation of dams and small water reservoirs, better use of rainwater or the promotion of sustainable farming on agricultural land. The Ministry of Agriculture will support the development of water supply and sewerage infrastructure with 1.7 billion crowns this year, and another 875 million will be spent on interconnecting water supply systems.
