Beijing Olympics: ankle injuries sideline champion Czech snowboarder Eva Samková

Snowboarder Eva Samková will not be competing at the Winter Olympics in Beijing due to a recent injury. The double Olympic medallist announced her withdrawal on Thursday.

Samková won the gold at Sochi in 2014 and a bronze at Pyeongchang in 2018. She broke both ankles on 11 December at the finish of the World Cup team race in Montafon, Austria, in which she finished second.
