Bavarian premier to address Sudeten German congress in Brno
The annual Sudeten German congress continues in Brno on Sunday, with Bavarian Premier Markus Söder (CSU) set to address the main gathering before meeting Czech President Petr Pavel in Prague later in the day. The event, being held in Czechia for the first time, has drawn both supporters and protesters. Former Czech dissident and writer Milan Uhde is to receive a top Sudeten German award. The gathering has included commemorative events linked to wartime suffering, including a reconciliation march recalling the 1945 expulsion of Brno’s German-speaking population.
