Babiš hails EU emissions proposal as government success

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) has welcomed the European Commission's proposed changes to the EU's industrial emissions trading system, ETS 1, calling them a success for his government. He said the proposal reflects months of lobbying by Czechia and would provide more free emissions allowances for industry until 2030 while slowing their planned reduction thereafter. According to Babiš, the changes would reduce costs for companies, leaving more money for wages and investment. He also said Czechia would retain access to the EU's Modernisation Fund and other financial support under the proposal.
