Babiš to cut all personal ties to Agrofert to resolve conflict-of-interest concerns

ANO leader and likely future prime minister Andrej Babiš announced that he is severing all personal ties to the Agrofert holding to resolve his conflict-of-interest issue. In a video posted on social media on Thursday evening, he said he will not return to the company even after leaving politics.

Agrofert shares will be placed under an independent trustee within a trust structure and supervised by an independent protector, both chosen by an independent authority. Under the arrangement, the company would pass to his children only after his death. Babiš said the steps go beyond what current regulations require.

President Petr Pavel had asked him to present a clear solution before being appointed prime minister. According to Babiš, the move meets the condition the president set for his nomination. Pavel has indicated the appointment could come next week, followed shortly by the rest of the ANO–SPD–Motorists cabinet.
