Army chief Řehka denies military spied on political parties or citizens

Chief of the General Staff Karel Řehka has firmly denied claims that the Czech Army collected intelligence on political parties or individual citizens. His statement responds to accusations by opposition MP Pavel Růžička (ANO), who published excerpts of internal military documents on social media suggesting otherwise. Řehka said the claims are based on misleading interpretations of two internal projects aimed at improving the army’s strategic communication and cyber readiness. The Ministry of Defence confirmed it did not share any materials with Růžička and has filed a criminal complaint regarding the leak. According to military officials, one of the projects analyzed emotional responses to army-related topics in media, while the other simulated election-related information threats using publicly available data.
