Archaeologists find 7,000-year-old settlement near Prague ring road site

Archaeologists have uncovered eight 7,000-year-old wooden post structures near Nupaky, along the planned Prague ring road extension. They also discovered part of a Hallstatt-era settlement and 13th-century pits likely used for gold prospecting. Findings include tools, pottery, and evidence of metalworking, as well as rare artifacts like a kylix fragment and glass beads, indicating indirect Mediterranean contact. The research, which began in May, has identified over 9,000 archaeological objects so far. Construction of the ring road section between Běchovice and the D1 highway starts today and is expected to finish by 2027.
