ANO, SPD and Motorists’ party want highway expansion but disagree on high-speed rail

For the ANO party , the Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) party and the Motorists’ party, which have been negotiating a program for a possible coalition government since Monday, completing the Czech highway network is a top priority. They also support investment in rail infrastructure, but differ over high-speed rail (HSR). ANO sees it as essential, while SPD and the Motorists’ party consider it an overly costly project with uncertain benefits for ordinary citizens. All three groups call for faster motorway construction and more private financing through PPP projects. ANO and SPD also support discounted fares in public transport, while all three reject the EU plan to ban sales of new combustion-engine cars from 2035.
