ANO government would cancel ammunition initiative, Babiš tells Reuters

An ANO-led government would cancel the Czech ammunition initiative, which helps supply Ukraine with artillery ammunition, if it wins the autumn elections, the party’s leader Andrej Babiš said in an interview with Reuters.

The Czech ammunition initiative for Ukraine helped deliver 1.5 million rounds of ammunition last year. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the programme effective during his visit to Prague in May. However, Mr Babiš has long criticized the initiative, and in the interview also said that NATO's new defence spending targets were too high, and that he would "take another look" at the Czech contract to buy 24 F-35 fighter jets.
