Annual mass for victims of Heydrich killing reprisals held in Prague

A mass for the victims of reprisals following the 1942 assassination of Nazi governor Reinhard Heydrich was held at Prague’s St. Vitus Cathedral on Saturday.

The mass was celebrated by the head of the Roman Catholic Church in Czechia, Archbishop Jan Graubner, and his predecessor, Cardinal Dominic Duka.

The service for nearly 300 Czechoslovaks murdered by the Nazis in the wake of the assassination is held at the end of October every year.

This year it is 80 years since the killing of Heydrich by paratroopers Jan Kubiš and Jozef Gabčík and their group within Operation Anthropoid, one of the most daring actions of WWII.
